Circuit Judge Jimmie V. Reyna was appointed to the United States Court of ApÂpeals for the Federal Circuit in April 2011.
Judge Reyna began his career in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a law firm associate working on insurance defense cases, and later worked as a solo practitioner handling criminal, domestic relations, negligence, and business law matters. After relocating to Washington, D.C., he joined Stewart and Stewart as an associate, and then as a partner. In 1998, he joined the Washington office of Williams Mullen, where he led the firm’s International Trade and Customs PracÂtice Group, the Latin America Task Force, and served on its board of directors. He received a BA from the University of Rochester in 1975 and a JD from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1978. A distinguished international trade lawyer, Judge Reyna is respected for his expertise in international trade law. He is the author of two books, and many articles on international trade and customs issues. He was the founder and senior coeditor of the Hispanic National Bar Association Journal of Law and Policy.
Judge Reyna has long been a leader in the Hispanic legal community and is frequently recognized among the top most influential Hispanics. In 2009, the MexiÂcan government presented him with the Ohtli Award in Law, the highest honor bestowed by the Mexican government for non-Mexican citizens.Judge Reyna served as national president of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) in 2006-2007. He is recogÂnized for his leadership and distinguished service to the legal profession. In 2015, the Intellectual Property American Inn of Court in Minnesota was named the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna Intellectual Property American Inn of Court.
