Audit a Course

Auditing a course means that you can attend class meetings and have access to course materials, but you will not receive credit for the course. This option is ideal if you do not need to take a course for credit or are interested in the course material for personal or professional development.

Individual instructors may have specific requirements for auditors, so you are expected to follow any guidelines the instructor may have regarding class attendance and participation.

Permissions and fees

Courses can only be audited if permission is granted by the instructor. If you are interested in auditing a course, contact the Office of Summer and Continuing Studies to learn how to obtain instructor permission.

Audit fees can be found on the tuition page. Please note: University of Rochester employee tuition benefits are not available to use for auditing classes.
