GEM Fellowship Program

MS and PhD University of Rochester students can earn access to the top engineering and science firms and universities in the US through the GEM Fellowship Program.

The is designed to focus on promoting opportunities for graduate students to enter industry in areas such as research and development, product development, and other high-level technical careers. GEM Fellows are also exposed to opportunities in academia. Eligible disciplines range from aeronautical engineering and biomedical engineering to data science and systems engineering.

Area of study: Physics and astronomy (BS)

The Lubbock, Texas, native will take part in a summer internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, working in the Theory and Computation section of the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences Division. He then will begin his doctorate degree in mechanical engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology with hopes of becoming a scientist at a national laboratory.
