of psychiatry and professor of clinical psychiatry at the University's School
of Medicine and Dentistry, is principal investigator for a $1.3 million, four-year

chair-elect at WellMed, Inc., a provider of online consumer health management

Kenneth Algazy (Res) writes that he is a clinical associate professor
of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and chief of
hematology/oncology at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Hospital.

Alan Liss (PhD) has been appointed vice president of product development
at Antex Biologics, Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md.

Jessie Furlow (MD) was appointed to the Florida State University board
of trustees in June 2001. . . . Harold Gardner (MD) and his wife, Marilyn
Fiske '67RC, '67N, donated $750,000 to establish an interdisciplinary chair
in the University of Wyoming's zoology and physiology department. It is the
largest donation in the department's history. The two founded Options &
Choices, Inc., an Internet-based health information service for employers and
insurers, which they sold in 1997. Harold remains CEO of the company.

He has covered the field of biotechnology for the past 15 years and was ranked
as one of Wall Street's top 10 analysts in biotechnology by Institutional

Stephen Buell (PhD) has been hired as director of global equity research
at Prudential Securities, Inc. He was formerly research director at the Dreyfus
Corporation. . . . Howard Sohnen (MD) has been appointed residency program
director and associate professor at Mercer University School of Medicine's obstetrics
and gynecology program.

Wendy Schlessel Harpham (MD) coauthored The Hope Tree with Laura
Numeroff, released in August 2001. The book aims to help children understand
and adjust to the challenges of having a parent with cancer. Royalties from
the book are being donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

James Liu (Res) was one of three outside experts chosen for the Avitar,
Inc. Scientific Advisory Board to advise on research and development for developing
in-vitro clinical diagnostics. He is director of the division of reproductive
endocrinology and infertility at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
. . . David Nash (MD), associate dean and director of Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital's Office of Health Policy and Clinical Outcomes, was one
of four staff members to contribute chapters to Making Health Care Safer:
A Critical Analysis of Patient Safety Practices. The report identifies patient
safety practices in both nonmedical and clinical areas and evaluates practices
based on impact and implementation.

in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Deborah is a trial lawyer

Christopher Ellis (MD) and Sarah Gutin were planning an October 20,
